I recently visited Medeira Beach area and it looked like a great boating area. Thinking about trailering up from Punta Gorda. Is it worth the trip. Just enjoy hanging out on sand bars, restraunts etc. Any suggestions? I appreciate it

I cant imagine why you would. plenty to do in your area W/O dragging the boat 100 miles. been to Matlachaca or Peace river or Goodland yet?

Those are my stomping grounds. Recently went to Venice...just looking for something different. Maybe just drive it up by water. I charted it and it may be a weekend trip in the future

Theres not much in the way of water accessable restaurants in Mad Beach with the notable exception of the McDonalds. As you go further up the beaches, Salt Rock and The Pub in Indian Rocks are excellent with boat docks. Not much in the way of sandbars either. Most of the local crowd goes to Shell Key-the north end where on the sourthern tip of St. Pete Beach, or Bunces Pass on the north side of Ft. Desoto Park. Egmont Key at the mouth of Tampa Bay is also another favorite. When you get up closer to Clearwater, just north of Bellair Causeway there are some sand spits and small islands that people can beach on. I'm pretty familiar with the local sights if you want specific info.
