Memorial Day fireworks?

I am reading a CG doc and it appears that there will be fireworks Memorial Day, near the SOuth Street Seaport. But I can not find info confirming this anywhere else. Does anyone know if there will be fireworks? I really want to go if there are.
 
In answer to my own question:

No, there are not. But you can hang around the statue for a few hours without the CG cutter right there giving you any grief.
