Sorry I havent updated my subscription and cant get into the non-boating area to post these.

A group of us NC Coasties joined with the Combat Veterans of America Motorcycle Club in Dale City VA to make the ride into the Pentagon and then the demonstration ride thru Washington, DC. This was a great thrill and honor to join 850,000 other bikers and veterans in this demonstration for POWs and MIA's and Veterans Benefits
Here are a couple pictures:

Nothing but a sea of bikes, 850,000 of them took up three parking lots
and 4 hours to file out onto the demonstration ride

I did the "mini rolling thunder" from local chapter to Harrisburg, then hafl of us went back due to tight schedule and other half heading to Washington.
Will do it again next year and probably all the way to Washington.

Good for you Paul. Yep, I did that ride for many years in a row when I lived out there. Nice shots too.

Note- you mean 85,000 right? It was around 75,000 when I doing those rides in the early to mid '90s. Hey, that's still a LOT of bikes!

Paul

There were 850,000 bike from what the guy said on TV. THere were another 200,000 already parked in DC to watch the procession

Greeat pics Shadowcruzr looks like you on a wing now. BTW 210 plastic cleaner works great to get the bug juice off your window in pic 2 :)

Actually Mike I'm not on the bike taking the pictures. My sister-in-law is. Mrs Shadow's brother is the driver. And thanks for the tip on the bug cleaner

This was taken just before we left my sisters house in Stafford Va to return to North Carolina.

Oops--you're right. I was confusing the #'s with Austin's ROT (Rep of Texas) Rally. I think it's around 85,000 riders now. I guess I've away from that area for too long to remember anything anymore!

Paul

Dang Paul, I live in Dale City. wish I had known you were going to be close.
BTW, I remember that driveway in the last pic, from when I picked up my Boater Ed Shirts from your sister.

My good friend and co-worker is part of the leadership for the Run to the Wall that starts in CA and ends in DC just in time to join Rolling Thunder. He rides West in early May on his HD, does some instruction as a MSF instructor for the Road Guards that sheppard the pack coming East. I was in Vicksburg, MS 19 May when they came across the Mississippi River on I-20. Led by about a dozen HP cruisers and more than 2 dozen HP Motor Officers, with lights and sirens. People lined the overpasses and the MS Visitor Center Overlook waving the Colors and cheering. There were 400 or more riders in three or four platoons; the last platoon is made up of the trikes and 2 wheelers with trailers. His mileage for the trip was 6500+. He "Road Guarded for the various venues in DC; said that after waiting for 6 hrs in the hot Sun in the Pentagon Parking lot to stge out for Rolling Thunder his first year (5 years ago) he wasn't doing that again after a 6500 mile ride!! The Run for the Wall has a website with pictures www RFTW org , they have a Southern Route (basically I-20) and a Central Route (I-40) and meetup in VA to attack DC in mass.

Bummer, sorry I missed you. I was close enough to hear the bikes starting up that day.
