I've never been to Menemsha but had tentative plans to meet friends there later this summer. After the fire I'm not sure what the status is.

I can see there is (was) dockage available as well as inside and outside moorings. Any comments on staying here overnight?

I heard about the fire also. Not sure what it did to the dockage but based on the pics I saw, I don't think it was affected. Pre-fire, it was first come first serve. The harbormaster would start taking calls at 7am to reserve for same day only. There are only two moorings in the inside harbor and my understanding is they'll raft strangers. There are also outside moorings but they would be very exposed to anything but a S or SE breeze. Might be worth a call to the harbormaster to get an update.

On another topic, please post how your LI cruise went. I am considering a similar run for later this summer and would like to hear how you like Greenport and Sag.

Sure, I'll definately post how the trip goes. I'm hoping for good weather (no named storms!) and lots of water...sounds like it gets kinda skinny down around West Hampton.

Only two moorings on the inside, wow, that's not much. I might give the harbormaster a call and find out what's available for slippage after the fire. I thought the main dock burnt down but maybe I'm wrong.

Imo, the outside moorings are one of the finest places I`ve been to spend a couple days. The prevailing winds keep it smooth and there aren`t many places to see a better sunset. a dinghy ride into the pond will keep you occupied all day and the village has enough going on to kill a night or two. There is nothing like hitting one of the fish markets (I can`t seem to catch my own) and cooking it up on your boat, all by yourselves, while the beach fills up with the "sunset revelers"

cool I though you had already gone. We are planning on heading that way sometime around Aug 15th...

I agree with the sunset on the outside moorings. If the wind, your boat and crew can work together.
The inside moorings are just for sailboats, and yes they do raft up to four I believe with no launch service.

I had not heard about the fire.
