Merc sync gage question?

On my 89 - 280DA, the sync module is to the right of the helm behind the tabbed panel. Pretty simple replacement. I took my original one off the 1st year and cleaned the posts and it worked for a bit, but the posts were actually damaged internally.

Replaced the sync module beginning of season last year, all is well.

I took a look at the parts manual for a 300 DA and there is no sync module listed like there is for the 280 DA, only the sync gauge. I'll have to take a look on the boat this weekend and see what I can uncover.

Play Dough:

The picture of the sync module I posted above is the actual module I removed from a friends 1989 300 EC.

PD, if you have the Teleflex Sync gauge, the module has to be there some where.

Yup. It's there. Always is amazing the amount of assistance and knowledge that can be gained on the web. It's surprising that my mechanic or two Sea Ray facilities couldn't at least point me in the right direction.

Greg, there are two small cylinderical canisters either side of the module on my boat, are these the engine warning alarms? I may need to check them out too. I don't get the test "beep" at ign on pre start.

I believe those are the warning buzzers but am not positive. They activate several seconds after the key is turned on so if you haven't waited that long the buzzer won't sound. I'm thinking it's something like 5 to 7 seconds. The only time mine ever activated was when I stalled an engine docking. That doesn't happen anymore so I don't experience the warning. Now that I'm thinking about it, it's probably proper precedure to turn the key until it buzzes and then start the engine to verify that the warning systems are functional?
