I replaced my 2 Alpha-One drives with Berkeley Jets, powered by the same 3 ltr engines. May not be very clever but it seemed like a good idea at the time. There is however not enough torque to get over the hump, at full throttle the rpm is between 2500 and 3000 and the boat does 16 mph. With the Alpha-Ones it did 25 mph at 3500 rpm and 35+ at full throttle. The idea was, that once this works satisfactorily I will go looking for two turbo diesel engines. Can anyone tell me how much torque can be expected from the Merc engines at these revs? Mercruiser is very silent about torque, they only state apprx 140 HP at 4400-4600 rpm.
