Mercury 4.3 (1988) in my Searay Seville. I took it out for the first time this year two weekends ago. It started up fine and blew the winterization crap put like usual. Ran fine for 10 minutes but when I hammered the throttle and the boat quit. Almost like it flooded. It would start up immediately, but I could not get it past 1500 rpm (stall). It would take approx 10 mins to get started again, then it would stall when I gave it gas. After a while, the engine would not start so I got towed in. I thought it might be bad gas (water). So I bought an external tank and hooked it directly to the engine this weekend. The boat started up and ran fine, even at full throttle. This lasted about 1 hour and then it happened again. The engine stalled, and would not start. I had to be towed in. Even after I waited 8 hours once I was home, and tried to start it with the muffs on. It would not start. Any ideas of what is happening would be a great help. I have heard that Mercs can vapor lock, but would it not start after the engine cools down?. Any help would be greatly apprectiated.
