Does anyone know what make and model water pump this is as it has a minor leak on the seal and I would like to peplace this one with a new one and rebuild the old one with a seal kit if there is such a thing thereby having a spare.
Thanks for your support.
Bob

Someone went and put a Volvo water pump on your Mercruiser.

Actually...by looking at your other post...someone went and put a Mercruiser on your Volvo

The thermostat housing looks like Mercury, the water pump looks like Volvo.

Hell-o,
OK as usuall I should have been a little more explicit...The boat is a 1984 Santa Cruz and just before I bought it the original fresh water engine went south. The owner bought a new 350 cube/350 HP small block and had it installed. Was the original engine a Volvo???I dont know. Perhaps this is where the pump came from...works fine???Except for the new small dripping action.
I dont mind keeping this style pump and installing a new one as everything will match and line up. BUT if some for sees a problem and I should change to a Merc. pump than I am sure hoses and belts and pulleys and what not will need replacing????
SOOOOOOO anybody know what pump this is and is it a reasonable replacement for this Merc???
Thanks in advance
Bob

Keep the Volvo style pump...it's WAAAAY easier to service. If the dripping action is coming from the cover...you may only need a new gasket or even just tighten the screws, but be careful as they are just brass screws. The original engine was a Volvo modified Chevy, just like the current one is a Merc modified Chevy...same engine, so no worries

Kenny,
The leak as slow as it is...is coming from the rear it looks like vent slits/holes where the shaft runs through about 1 drip per 10-15 seconds.
I never saw a leak that gets better...especially 10 miles off shore.
Thanks
Bob
I bought my wife a beautiful pair of oars for Mothers Day I hope she likes them.

There is a seal on the shaft that drives the impeller, it is available separately and fairly easy to replace. You'll need to unbolt the pump from the pulley it is mounted to, but it's not that hard to do yourself.

I believe that is a Johnson pump. You will have to take the #'s off it to find out the rebuild kit. I much prefer Johnson to Merc. Far easier to service.
Al

it's a Volvo part...made by johnson. If you know the original engine's model, it'll be easier to get at a Volvo dealer

Thanks men...I believe I have enough imfo to make the proper purchase...a pictures worth a thousand words....I can always paint it red.
Thanks again
