Help,
I have an older 120hp mercruiser stern drive. When going into forward or reverse there is a grinding like a clutch noise on a car. I have fluid that looks like a water and oil mixture seeping out of the bottom of the stern drive. I asked the mechanic who replaced the lower unit last year about it and he said if it didn't stop leaking let him know.
I tried to replace the gear oil but the only place to fill it is in the upper drive housing, I only see a drain plug on the lower end. Do I fill it from the upper?
I am afraid the water in the lower unit has caused damage??/
