Hello all,
Recently I purchased a used 2000 Angler CC 24' with twin 135 Optimax motors. The motors are brand new 2005 models with only 1.2 hours on each. The guy who owned it before let the boat sit for a little over a year with old gas in it. The motors were never fogged for storage.
When I took possession of the boat I had the tanks pumped out and I replaced all the fuel/water separator filters. I replaced the fuel lines from the separators to the motors. Finally I put fresh fuel in the tanks.
The motors will idle up to 1500 RPMS, but crap out when you try to give them more gas.
I had the remainder of the warranties transferred to me. They are good until 2010. The former owner bought them under some kind of promotion which provided 5 year warranties.
Can I expect that anything can be done under warranty or will Mercury pretty much wash their hands and call this a neglect issue? The dealer I have it at is salivating at $90.00 an hour and they pretty much told me they won't submit any of this under warranty.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John
