Mexican Sailing Ship vs. Brooklyn Bridge --- 0/1

Some of the videos seem to show prop wash in reverse indication a control malfunction. Didn’t seem to be current. There was a tow boat on the stbd side which appeared to be trying to move toward the stern by didn’t make it in time.

That is really, really ugly. There is no doubt they could handle the ship, they have won numerous races. There is talk of mechanical malfunction.

How sad. This lovely young woman was one to pass as a result.

I assumed mechanical failure, then saw a few videos that pretty clearly show prop wash. Looks like it was stuck in gear.

Their bz jets crash, and their ships do as well. Not good.

Thank you so much, "getakey" for the report from an actual Master Mariner. It is a really nice breath of fresh air inliew of small pleasure boat operators speculative comments so popular with boating forums. Again, thank you, it is much apreciated.

This guy’s video are always well put together and this is no exception. Excellent info and details beyond what was obvious right away: engine stuck in reverse.

As usual the politicians and local officials had it all wrong saying the ship had lost power when the prop wash was obvious along side the boat.

As usual the politicians and local officials are interested in a “story “ rather than facts! Considering the few times I have witnessed or been involved in a situation, the reports in the media lack the actual facts.

He did some good vids on the Baltimore bridge collision as well as tthe Truman and that other collision with the anchored US ship. I'm surprised we don't have an update on the Truman collision

Why do people listen to or even care what a politician has to say about things like this

I didn't think it would have one (EAGLE doesn't) but I have seen CPP failures happen just like this, specifically the Rolls-Royce units. Happened to a 225' large buoy tender out of Alaska some years back. They were setting a sea buoy, normally the DPS (dynamic positioning system) uses propulsion and thruster control to keep the ship in the specified location. The computerized control system took a sh!t and while they were setting this buoy they found out the hard way when this happens that the mechanical default is clutch astern.

update from Sal. Not a lot of info, but there is an interview with Pilot's lawyer
