Yes....this has to be fake. He looks way too good.....fat, sunburned, oriented. This is some type of scam....stay tuned
 
The article mentions the sailboat was capsized but I think they have misinterpreted the circumstance. From news stories I have heard and read the sailor mentioned that the boat was rolled several times and dismasted. Thinking he could balance on the tip of the keel on a capsized sailboat hull doesn't make sense. He was rescued 200 miles out to sea so it's likely he was really out there...whether all his statements are actual fact needs to be investigated but while he was missing the Coast Guard did some checking on his financial and online history which showed no activity while he was missing. He did tell his family he was going fishing before he left and when rescued claimed he stayed alive by drinking rainwater and fishing which doesn't seem unreasonable. On a TV report they showed a before and after picture of him and he appeared to have lost quite a bit of weight. From what I have heard so far, I tend to think his story holds water.
 
The article I read didn't mention anything about the boat being capsized, just said it was disabled and he had been drifting.

The first sentence in the Article John states, "Missing since January, a South Carolina man was found Thursday afternoon on the capsized hull of his sailboat . . .."
