MMSI

My radios have it, got my numbers from Boat US website link. Unfortunately, I do not know anyone with one to talk with/try out.

Hi,

Here is a faq on it

http://www.boatus.com/mmsi/faq.htm

but, the private hailing is somewhat of a side benifit. The primary reason to have a DSC/MMSI radio, is it will send your vessel info along with a distress call at the push of a botton. If it is connected to a GPS it will also send your loaction.

My vhf has been acting up and I plan to replace it this spring, I think all are now required to have DSC, not sure if the GPS interface is required.

Ok so i was messing with my radio today..does anyone know if u request a position from another DSC radio if it does in fact show up on the chart plotter??

Also if u place a call with the dsc radio does the radio have to tuned to the same channel? When i was requasting a call it ask what channel to call.... If u have to be tuned to the same channel well then like hogan said ... cell phone... no ones ever on the same channel. I only monitor 16 while under way but change to a another when we raft up

Rob

The other radio will only give you it's position if both are hooked up to a GPS.

The other radio should automatically switch to the channel you call on.

You could always call the other guy.... on his cell phone.....and tell him what channel to put his DSC radio on ............. :) :) :)

LOL

Don, I have had a long day dealing with clients and potential clients. That was funny.

I think you guys had best stick with the cans attached to strings.

But how many people will we decapitate in the process....

And DON>>>> My wife wants to know if someone can come fix the damn sink faucet.... She states i have no problem turning to u guys for boat stuff... how about helping fix the house stuff.....

WTF......

Rob

Oh and hogan thanx ... i got it ...( it will change stations ) ty

Mark.....FUNNY ????...... I was serious !!!!!...... ( just kiddin )

Rob......... I have no clue when it comes to sink faucets......but I'll re-wire your house if you need !!!

Rob,
I may be able to help, the drip can be easily fixed with a pill, (sorry about that, the day before I was with Don's wife, I have heard about the places he visits so blame him for the drip).

Walter

Walter...... she told me....that you said......you were on your way to Cherry Grove.....after here. You will need more than a pill for that stuff.

OH YEAH........ we just found out that Primo has fleas.....so you may want to get yourself a flea colar too. Sorry.............. :) :) :)

and all this benefits me how ????

MMSI ? no...

Sink repair ... No

But serious ... i empty out the entire cabinet under the sink. The one piece faucet is loose...

It has a SPECIAL ( yes special ) tool to tight the base... PROBLEMO is the water lines are in the way..... i b clueless where to umm stick the tool ...

Went on line ... nothing .... so i gotto call Blackman this am....

Im sure they wont tell me ....

Rob

I'm sure Walter or Dave can show you where to "stick the tool"!!

Its called a basin wrench.....I have that tool if you need it.

So now daves in it too.. i didnt see that match up....

WOW...

So the explanation i got was to pull apart the the valve body and the faucet arm.

It will apear like somethings going to break... JUST keep pulling .... it will come apart...

WTF ... u know i now going to break a very grossly expensive faucet... stay tuned...

Rob

Rob...... Is the problem with the LITTLE sink in your boat.....or the one in your house ???
