I read the other thread about non-skid paint and would like to ask a follow on question.

I'm in the process of redoing my flybridge and will repaint the non-skid surface. During the process I am relocating some seating which, naturally, leaves screw holes. My plan is to fill the holes with Matine Tex, sand and finish with the non-skid paint.

However, most of the holes still have sealer residue down in the holes. How do I get this out so the Marine Tex adheres properly? Should I drill out the holes a bit larger to remove it or is there another technique for doing this? I just want to make sure the holes are clean and the Marine Tex stays put over the long term.

Drill it out to make sure you get all of the sealer. What type of coring do you have?

You might want to go with a liquid epoxy and have it bond to the coring better than the putty like Mainetex?

Core material is Balsa. Fiberglass, balsa, fiberglass.

Should I use two part or one part epoxy?

Thanks for the tip, Makes sense.

I like the 2 part West System epoxy, but I have heard that the 2 Part MAS EPoxy does not generate as much heat and therefore becomes less brittle.
