Anyone seeing the Newsday items the last couple of days? Three separate rescues in 2 days after capsizes in there.

It seems simple enough, if you don't know it well, if it's rough, if you don't want to swim in cold water and watch your boat sink, STAY OUT of the inlet.

What is in there that's worth dying for? They fishing for winning Powerball tickets or something?

so, outgoing tide is pretty deceiving there. You can get into trouble pretty quickly once you are pulled in the wash with any SW winds. I was talking to a buddy who fishes there regularly and he says the shoaling there is the worst its been...I thought this was dredged last year but I guess that was just the inside...

If I remember correctly, both of them were out there when small craft warnings were up. That's not smart. They were lucky that someone was around to rescue them; it could have been tragic. Hy

Hy,
From what I heard thru the grapevine was that the 27' Grady was fishing in the surf and was surprised by a wave that rolled them. I don't disagree with you there.
