MPI troubleshooting help

Have you checked the shower pickup and shower flow recently?

I imagine it would be good to confirm as best you can whether the reservoir was overflowing due just to thermal expansion or if air ( or even water thought you said it didn't look like it) was getting in there.

Does your drive have a RW pump in it? When you blocked off RW flow route from the drive and cut the hose on the engine side, was a drive RW pump with impeller still in place stil pumping and just draining out the drive & possibly helping cool? If the impeller deteriorated , that could conceivably affect drive temp. Of it was still pumping but drainage got blocked perhaps that could put water pressure on gear case seals? No idea if any of that could apply to what you have though

Had another thought about the easy "loose" steering.- If the drive is now getting excessively hot, any old stiff grease on pivot points could now be much less viscous, lowering resistance to movement there.

no pump in the bravo lower units. I will try to get a look at the shower when underway, but that's easier said then done. With the 'integrated' swim platform, I really have to suspend my head pretty far off the back of the boat, at high speed, to see the drive underway. I remember doing it once after I installed the shower, and it was not the best feeling in the world. I may be able to have someone follow in another boat and get a look, but I don't remember have any success with that on last attempt.

No,no,no ,... that is what the CREW is for ! :D
That doesn't sound like fun at all .

How about using a mirror on a pole?
Or if you have a trailer , try shooting hose water into the pickup when on Dryland?

If checking in water underway again, at least wear a large face mask held tight with someone you like holding on to your feet. And please,...upload the video to uTube!

I don’t know, dangling a barely waterproof phone with what seems like 690 months left on the contract off the stern of my boat might scare me more than hanging my own self over it.
