The Canal is less than a hour from Westhampton and it's probably not a bad trip for Andy. Further west than westhampton he would have to deal with the very skinny water in Moriches. The canal is easy, no issues.

since you SS guys think 5-6 ft is deep water [:-shake][:-shake][:-shake]

Block Island fireworks are on July 3, the parade is July 4.

Been going thru the same thing being a planner for a few years. Last year we went by ourself meeting up with friends along the way. Was the best trip we ever had.

Trying to plan a trip with a number of people this year and starting to regret it already! I think Mike's way is the only way!

Mike did you decide if your going south or east yet?

Locks open as needed or stay open when water flows from peconic to Bay.
Gotta check that becuase going through when its flowing is tricky if moving fast.

To get to westhampton Andy would have to stay inside and not go to ocean, water is shallow but if you follow the channel and go at high tide it is a non issue.

......called this morning and tentatively booked at Westhampton ( town ) Marina .... arriving on 7/3 & departing on 7/6. They will call back to confirm tomorrow.

7/3? Why not 6/30? Maybe I will do watch hill 6/30 thru 7/3 and WH 7/3 to 7/6 or just do WH from 7/3 thru 7/7. Who else is going and who do I call book?

Walter, You into this?

Dave........ That stupid thing called work ...stops me from going the weekend before. Does Watch Hill do fire works ??
Call 631-288-1654 X25...speak with Chrisy.

We have been there, nice place, great location but there is some rocking from the shelter island ferries & the channel traffic – much better then Claudio’s but still some rocking
The bigger your boat the closer they put to it

Foe one night its ok but for more than that go to Townsend manner inn

Watch hill does not have fireworks.
Well, I will work out some dates with Wally.
Do they have a pool?

Anyone else?

Westhampton has NO pool...... but its within walking distance to the WH ocean beach.....Beach passes are included in the dockage fee.....or 2 block walk into town........for anything you want.

we go every year...its a nice quiet place.............haven't been there on the 4th yet...not sure if they have fireworks.......I'll ask when they confirm my reservation tomorrow.

Andy ,
Thanx didnt see rocking the day we were there. WE were in shelter and took the ferry accross.....

Isnt it a far walk to town from the other marinas???

Rob

Rob,

It's about a 20 minute walk from Townsend Marina to Claudios, but half of it is through the downtown area which you'd walk through anyway for the shops and restaurants. Townsend is a very nice place with a pool and a good restaurant. As Andy said, the public dock was very nice and well located, but there was significant rocking. We left a day earlier than planned because of this.

Question: Does the town marina at Westhampton allow dogs?

Duck
Hi -I made it to my gate at the airport

Rob,
Duck is a little off on the timing on the walk to town.
the walk from Townsend can be 10 min to 3 hrs depending how many stores you go into

What else is also near Westhampton that we can spend a day or two at?

If it takes you 20 minutes from Townsends to Claudio's one of three things has happened:

1. You are too drunk to find your way

2. You have stopped in every store on the way

3. You are the slowest walker in the world.

If you don't need the pool, I would highly recommend the town dock, brand new cement floaters, WIFI, cable and right in the middle of town.

I have been to Townsend, nice place, but a little stuffy.
We got yelled at alot for bbq near boats, drinks in pool, loud music, blocking dock walkway, etc.

BBQ - we understood, but guy told us it was ok, then another guy said no.
Drinks in pool - we put it in plastic, but they said no, only drinks allowed in pool are ones you buy from them.
Music - it was 9:00
Blocking dock - this is questionable.

Nice place, nice location, but they need to loosen up a little.

I know nothing about Westhampton, Don is the expert there.

duck.... Yes ... as long as they are on leash. They also have clean-up bag dispensers around the marina for your convenience.

Our dog loves the water....so we take him off leash to the boat ramp by the transient slips.... and let him play.

FYI - Our club's liquor license says you cannot consume alcohol on the premises that was not purchased at the club. The premises is defined as the main building and immediate surrounding areas such as decks, patios, etc.

Many times the bar isn't open and people would bring their own coolers on the deck. While it seems harmless, it's against the liquor license rules.

Andy...... The marina is with-in walking distance to the ocean beach ( we bring our bikes ). You could easily spend 1/2 day there.....or walk 2 blocks into the town of Westhampton...and its loaded with all kinds of resturants...bars...movie theater...shops...grocery stores...laundromats..etc. It's a typical Hampton$ touri$t town.
