Anyone know what the difference between a Navionics XL series card and a Navionics Gold card is ?

Will the Northstar 952 (color ) run the Gold series ?

Im not sure but i think the XL is old stuff ... the gold is to run on the new e 120's and alike.... Ill give u my gold to try.... or maybe its platinum...... i dont know but i dont think it will work.....

Did u go to the web site... it should tell u what will work with what

Thanks Rob.....I did check their web......no info about compatability of the gold with the 952. Maybe I should just update what I have ? Just want all the new bouys and stuff....with out upgrading my electronics.
 
Don --- What about calling that place over in Copiague on Montauk Hwy that seels all of the marine electronics. I can't think of the name of the place right now but I know you know which one it is because it was you who told me about it.

BTW Rob, went to NBR and read the entire thread about nothing. Thought it was stupendous. Isn't that how Seinfeld made all his money?? About nothing!!!

Called Navtech already..........The Northstar 952 will not run the Gold series. The best thing he recommends is to bring him the unit for a softwear update ($125) and run the platnum series.......it will be better then new.

I'll be bring it to him asap.........

Did you get my package ???

Rob: As the saying goes "I've been SICK" and unfortunately still am having some med probs but hopefully not much longer. Will have better idea this Friday. I will try to keep up with you guys.

This is not correct information? The Northstar 952 can NOT run Navionics Platinum Chasrts. I had the 952 & it will run the Classic Charts. The newer charts Gold & Platinum you'll need new units. I upgraded to the Northstar 6100i it runs Platinum & Gold. The 6000i will run Gold not Platinum. But no way will the 952 run platinum.
 
Capt........ YOUR CORRECT....MY mistake. He did say CLASSIC charts......not Platinum.

I need to pay more attention when people talk to me....

Yea we get that too...... Don why would u want to update the software..... what am i missing ?

Ull only be able to load the newest old charts. I wouldnt bother.... Crap my dads got paper charts from 70's u can almost overlay them on last years.....

save 125 for goldfingers .....
