Navman 5500i - acquiring signal

I have a Navman 5500i on Lake Norman, NC. It takes anywhere from 45-60 minutes to acquire a signal. I called Brunswick and they said the software needed to be updated. I did that and it found the signal in about 5 minutes the first time. That worked about twice and now it's back to 45-60 minutes.

Called Brunswick again and they said to mail it back for repair.

Anyone else ever had this issue??

if the boat has a hard top or anything else blocking the view to the sky, you'll have problems with the internal antenna.
