Need a good graphic person to restripe my boat.

Last March a guy gave me an estimate to restripe my boat for $600.00. I said go ahead, and I want it done before I launch the end of April. Well, he started to remove the bottom striping and 18 inches into the removal he realized he did not have the right striping tape. It is now September, and the job is almost complete, except what has been done is so bad, I need someone else correct the work that has been done and finish the job. I need someone in Northern ohio to do the job and the boat is at Marblehead, Ohio. Oh, and by the way, the guy that was doing this had my credit card number from another mechanical job he did and charged $1000.00 to it without my authorization. Anyone know of such a person?
 
Heard of that many of times. thats why im a cash person unless its an emergency.

when are you looking to have it done Matt. before winter storage or before the spring?
 
Mike, I guess it really doesn't matter now. My haul out is 9/30/07. Some of what has been done has to be fixed and other parts has to be removed and re done. Neither side matches and other parts are so sloppy that it has to be done over. The guy is a great mechanic, but a striper he is not. I question his honesty now also after what he did with my credit card.
 
What would you charge. It is a 1987 300 Sea Ray Weekender Oyster with blue trim. You probably know the color scheme. Would you email me your quote.

If "no time" is the challenge, by all means go with someone to do it for you.

If it's because you've never done it before, it is not that difficult, but patience and time to get it right is essential. It is better to be a little "handy" with your hands. I stripped my boat and restriped the doghouse and bridge, plus added the transom graphics last winter (heated storage). I'll get to the water line stripe after I finish the bottom strip, barrier coat, and ablative this winter. I looked around at the other boats in the marinas, saw something I liked and called a dealer to order some. Not factory original, but on a 1982 being a little customized is not a bad thing.

Corners can get tricky at first if they're not square but they can be "cut in" with a razor knife and some thought.

Mike has been around this forum for some time and helped me out a few times with good professional advice. I'd probably give him a call if I did not want to screw with it. My recommendation especially after your first situation is go see some of the work previously done before making your decision. And I always prefer to pay for services rendered at the time the job is completed to mutual expectations.
