I am looking at purchasing a used boat down in Ocean View, NJ. I need a accredited surveyor to take a look at the boat before I buy it.

Al Prisco. As thorough as they come and close to you.

I've used Al Prisco a couple of times as did many ROs here.

I highly reccommend him, he's extremely thorough and very professional.

I used Al Prisco to survey a boat in Point Pleasant NJ.
He was on time, thorough and delivered the paperwork including oil analysis and photo CD in good order.
I would reccomend him.
I was buying to import into Canada so everything was being done by remote and neither my lender or insurance carrier had any problem with his work.

I am available. This year i am offering my clients Thermal Imaging for hull and drive system inspections. I can be reached at 845-228-1071

Al's the Man!

Thermal imaging is what you want. The soundings of the hull are good but thermal imaging will show what is really going on in the hullsides and anything above the gunnel and the bottom.

That is great that you have this now Al. Good to know. This is what I would want on my next survey, not that many guys have access to this technology.

Jonathan

Many Thanks!, To all of you for the wonderful comments! With respect to all my clients and friends, I have invested in this technology to offer you the best possible resource available today. Thermal imaging is an amazing tool to give the client the very best advantage when making a new purchase. I will always do my best to look after your best interest.

Is thermal imaging more reliable than moisture meters? In that, I mean (at least our surveyers) say that a boat is rotten if the meter shows any moisture. Now you and I know that wet does not mean rotten, but once that is written down in a survey, the boat is all but lost. Seems our surveyors have lost their tapping hammers as I've accompanied several of them on surveys, and not one hammer was brought out.

Al uses a hammer...in fact, it's a bit un-nerving to watch him beat the crap out of your major purchase.
Thermal imaging, that sounds very high tech.

I heard a rumor that Al surveyed the space shuttle for NASA...is that true?

Al is THE MAN!!

Al, please make sure to bring the thermal imager the next time you raft up with us, I'd like to use it to check the distribution of ice in my cooler and to make sure that it is uniformly cold in there.

RamSport47, Yes this and Ultrasonic testing is the best way to go. When moisture is located the next step would be a core sample. This will tell all.

Hi Chris, I think i have them down on the calender for June sometime. All kidding a side. NASA uses Thermal on every thing they test or send into space. The unit i have is designed to handle wet conditions, just in case we get into some wet weather again. I know you remember the time we had in City Island. Hope all is well.

Now Mike, you know im going to bring it on the raft ups. We have to keep all are toys in check. Hope your vacation was a good one.

Oh God, NOT Al Prisco [:-mischievous] !!!

All he's going to do is brag about that expensive dipstick he just bought. Which, by the way, he's going to talk about at the boat show this weekend in White Plains, and since you all know ME you can get free tickets to come and support Al so he's not talking to himself the whole time...

LOL, let me lend my voice in strong support of Al - you Da Man!!!
(of course, my recommendation could be the Kiss of Death, but who knows???)

Al
Which unit did you purchase. I have been looking at the fluke R series

Hi John, I purchased a new Fluke. They seem to make a better unit then FLIR. Its time the bar was raised on Pre-Purchase inspections. My clients are looking for the best means available when it comes to making the right choice on a major purchase. The newer vessels are very hard to diagnose with a moisture meter. Also the big advantages when scanning wiring and machinery are outstanding.

Those are neat gadgets you guys get to play with! And they open up some exciting new possibilities for expanding your businesses, too!!!
