My Voyager 28 is equipped with the standard twin 75 gallon fuel tanks. Cruising accross to the Bahamas with only 150 gallons makes a tad nervous. I would like to add either larger tanks as replacements or add a third tank. Are there any "simple" solutions? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PS: Anyone coming down the ICW in FL this season, give us a shout. We're always ready to hoist a glass with friends.

Do you have room for bigger tanks or an additional tank?

Someone makes a bladder kind of arrangement that straps to the deck. However, I am not sure if I would be that comfortable with a bunch of gas sitting in a ballon in the cockpit.

How does your boat fare on the open ocean? I have a 28 mariner and live on Lake Erie. I am afraid to take it out unless it is calm and less then 1-2' waves! I can't imagine getting caught in open waters if things picked up unexpectedly.

Just curious!

I went to Key Largo last week and handled seas 3+ with little trouble while underway. But it was pretty rolly when sitting not making way. 2-3 is OK but more than that is a bit uncomfortable. Nothing dangerous, just uncomfortable.

Well, that was the point to my question. I was hoping someone had tried and found a way to add capacity to space available without modifying or relocating the holding tank and fresh water tank. But, I guess I'll just have to be careful with my cruise planning. It's not very far from West Palm Beach to Bimini so should be able to make it handily. I just want to add some more margin of safety.

Not interested in doing that. My boat is rolly enough without that much shifting weight on the deck. Plus, Gas in a bladder? Nah, I don't think so. :)
