2000 340 sundancer dead batteries, how do you manually open engine hatch

Can't offer specific help on your boat but once when I was in a pinch with a newly launched boat with no batteries I used a jump pack with a dual ended cigarette lighter cord between the pack and the dash board 12v receptacle. Was enough to run the bilge pumps since the engine drain plugs were left off by the marina and the boat was flooding with water.

Might be enough to get some charge in the battery and then open the hatch.

Thats right........... back-feed thru the cigarette lighter housing with a good 12v battery. Be sure to get the polarity correct.

Also some older S/R have an inspection plate on the engine cover.....you may be able to reach in....and pull the release-pin on the hatch lift piston.

Good Luck........

My Regal has a set of terminals behind the battery switches that a good jumper battery can be connected to. I've seen several other brands with similar setups, yours may have it also.

Thanks, cigarette lighter outlet worked. Still can't figure out why three batteries were dead and genny battery okay. Still checking it out.

Thanks for the help

Did you have the converter on ??

My house battery goes dead after a week......because of the Carbon Monoxide detector.....if I forget to keep the charger on.

Don,

You should stop eating so many beans if your CO detector goes off that much...

Charger on, 12 volt system shut off using deactivate switches in main panel. Only two items running are the fridge on 120v and the charger, everything else off. Group 27 AGM batteries installed in November of 06. I checked the output posts on the charger and they read battery voltage(after charging using mains). Input was 122v. Did not have an ammeter to check for draw but will next trip. Open for suggestions. I am thinking the charger has a bad diode possibly. But, I am obviously not very knowledgeable in this area.

It is odd that both batteries would be dead. Do you have your battery switch in parallel or both mode?

I also assume you disconnected the batteries from the charger before testing the charging posts.

Actually three dead batteries and one good. There are two hooked parallel pos to pos and neg to neg and the other two are independent. The genset battery was up 12.78 volts. OOps, I think I only had one pos post disconnected when I probed the charger ouput posts. There are three red and one black coming off the charger. This stuff gives me a headache, especially after contorting my portly self in the bilge for a couple of hours!
