Has anybody been going to Short Beach recently? I plan on taking some friends out for a short trip Sat, and want to know whether the slips fill up fast on Sat mornings there, or whether I have a good chance of getting one later in the morning.
Thanks for any info

There has been availability, but warning, mosquitoes are rampant! In just 5 minutes, got 6 bites!

Rob, might not help, but just went by short at Friday, 7p, no one there.

Slats, you're getting me nervous, I'm 1 or so miles north of Short Beach, haven't seen a mosquito this season...they're coming??

Slips do not fill up on Saturday until after 12:00. That was last season, this year it's been empty everytime i've been there, even in the later part of the day.
If you see the unbroken chain, by all means stop by for a cold one

The slips fill up more toward the middle to end of summer still early. Also everytime I've been there found it to be very shallow in parts even the slip area.

Slips closest to the Coast Guard Station (W End ) have the best water depth. Slips on the E end have some shoaling but it is better than it has been in years past. Lately the slips have been pretty quiet, maybe as the summer shifts into gear and we get more heat the people will return....or not!
Btw. this is a good spot to hang if you have young kids. At low tide they can parade around the island and back. Good stuff
