OK all I've posted numerous messages before about my 1980 MercCruiser 260 Sea Ray but I still need help . . .
I replaced the starter on my engine and now my negative wire on my battery smokes when I try to start my engine.
I checked all my wires by re-tracing and making sure all was hooked up right. I cleaned all posts and conections on both negative and positive wires and bateries. I even read the information on this web sight about troubleshooting and starting with the bateries.
The only thing I haven't tried is appling a load 50% of it's cranking amp rating for 15 seconds and making sure it maintains a voltage of 9.6.
Can anybody please offer ANY help here. I am frustrated at this point! Thanks in advance!
