well i have had my 2400 for about 3 weeks now and what can i say but great job all of you at regal! this thing is hot!!!! anyone have any comments about the 2400 i want to here them, im doing some really great custom things to the already great boat hope to get some pics up soon! happy boating to all of you!

Hey Cory,

I'm not a 2400 owner, but am looking hard at one. What engine/outdrive combo do you have? Can you elaborate a bit more about the boat? Like/dislikes so far? C'mon, tell me all about your boat :-)

ckaiser,

I have a 2007 2400 and I just completed a complete camper enclosure for the front of the boat. Pretty cool. It zips to the bimini and essentially extends the Regal camper closure to the front anchor locker of the boat.

I'll post some pics soon.

I'm looking very closely at making some custom (very short) travel bimini poles. You may have discovered by now that the 2400 doesn't address traveling with the bimini very well. We actually take ours down and put it into the boat each time we travel with it (we made boots to cover the ends of the poles when we travel).

SeaVet - Some thoughts on the engine selection... I have the 5.7Gi Volvo Penta DuoProp. We generally boat with quite a few people. If you can afford the 8.1 go with it. While the 5.7Gi works OK for me, we do a lot of tubing, etc. and it works pretty hard with all the repeated hole shot activity.

Anyone have any first hand experience with trim tabs on this boat? We don't do a lot of long trip boating so we are constantly coming on/off plan and wondered if tabs were very practical. Do they really help with fuel efficiency? Are they a realistic solution for weight distribution issues with my type of boating?

Congrats ckaiser on your new 2400.

Got mine in 2004 280HP 5.7GI DuoProp and been loving it ever since.
It handles rough water well ( been in 2 baltimore busters with it).LOOKS GREAT...always get comments when out with it.

Things to make it better: added lots of led lights in all storage spots and a blue one under the swim platform, made a bigger table, and added a 120V 1000W inverter (for the blender).

Things to watch out for: Dont trailer with the mooring covers on (lost mine on the delaware memorial bridge).Make sure the back cushons are snapped down before trailering. Lost one on the highway. If you trailer, lower the outdrive when you get home to drain it of water.

things to do on the water...ENJOY your new REGAL

FINALLY I'm joining the ranks of Regal owners!! Found a beautiful '05 Regal 2400 w/ Merc 350 Mag & Bravo III set-up, less than 30 hours, at a price I couldn't pass up. This is bigger than I'd intended (originally looked at the 1900, then 2000, then 2200, now 2400!), but hopefully I've staved off at least a few cases of 2-footitis :-)

Hoping to pick up the boat Saturday. Can't wait!!!

Hey all.

I have a 2006 2400 with the 350mag 300hp. She runs like a bat out of hell. Lake was calm the other day and got her up to 54mph on my gps. I do have Lenco tabs. I only use them for skiing. You get alot of prop blow out if you don't get them up quickly. Best of luck with her you will enjoy her.

It's great to join the ranks of 2400 owners. Also great to hear such positive reports about the boat. I grew up around boats along the Gulf Coast, but haven't had one since I moved to NC in 1991. Despite the nom de internet, I'm not a seafaring veteran -- rather, I'm a boat-loving veterinarian whose name starts with C :-) I'm really looking forward to getting back in touch with my boating roots. Can't imagine a better boat (for me and my family, at least) in which to do it!

Well, sorry to go off topic. I obviously don't have much to add about the boat itself yet. Will report back with impressions & modifications as they arise.

This is just a quick follow-up after 3 weeks of 2400 ownership. To repeat what's already been said, WOW! We're really enjoying it. Impressions so far:

- Really solid, functional design with understated elegance.
- Deceptively quick. I've watched the gas gauge go down at a faster-than-expected rate, only to realize I've been cruising at 40+ the whole time.
- Quite responsive to trim adjustments.
- Very little bow rise, and no porpoising noticed so far.
- Handles 4 adults and 4 kids without feeling cramped.
- The bimini does need shorter poles for travel. Thankfully, you can get them from a Regal dealer. regalfamily, is the back set-up of your bimini a 2 pole affair that attach with a push button? If so, you can order a 16" lower pole that drops the bimini quite a bit for travel.
- The anchor locker is quite cramped. Seriously, has anyone found a functional anchor that actually fits? I keep my anchor in the wakeboard locker.
- Between the boat and towing vehicle, I'm leaving a big carbon footprint :-)

Don't worry, Al Gores carbon footprint is MUCH bigger than yours. And if it's good enough for Al then it's good enough for me. I work hard to even match a quarter of his! ;)

Keep working on that John, I'm sure if you upgrade to the 5260 you could do it![^]

SeaVet, I would say that it appears that you are launching your boat at Lake Jordan.

SeaVet,

Thanks for the info on the bimini trailering poles. I will definitely bring this up again with my dealer. He first told me they weren't available. I'll push the issue again.

Thanks for the info!

kboat0, good eye. I keep the boat close to Jordan, although I hope to branch out to Phelps and other locations in eastern NC this fall.

MarkG, glad to help. I'm not sure if my previous description was clear. The back poles on my boat each consist of 2 parts: one that attaches to the bimini structure, and one that attaches to the boat. The 2 pieces connect via a pushpin-and-hole set-up. The standard part that connects to the boat is pretty long, comprising the majority of the pole's length. This is the part for which I got a 16" replacement from Talley Marine in Charlotte. Works great. I'll try to post some pics in the next few days.

Oh, and on the boat's performance, I found yesterday that it will porpoise if you're doing 50+ and trim too high :-)

Yes, porpoising is an issue over 50 for us as well, also there is a definite issue with cavitation while making tight turns at lower speeds (15-30mph). Other than that the boat performs extremely well.

SeaVet, how are the current boating conditions at Jordan? Up at Falls Lake the levels are very low. At this point I dont see us puting in at Falls any time this year. Quite often we boat out of Beaufort. The boat handles extremely well out in the ocean.

Conditions at Jordan are OK. The water is down a few feet, but still plenty deep in most places. It's getting a bit shallow in the area north of 64 where you have to thread between stumps (is there a name for that place?), but even there the water was about 5' on Thursday. Didn't go there yesterday, but water depth readings where I did go were between 12 and 35 feet. The only time I've run aground was when I got too close to a buoy trying to determine whether it was a mile marker or Danger marker... as it turns out, it said Danger!

If your a DIY-er. I have pix of a set of short (about 6 inches long)bimini poles I made for transport and enable me to put a winter cover over everything with out removing the bimini.

SvedasFish,

If you have pics, that would be great. I saw some pics posted on the ROC site, but don't remember now who posted them. In any event, I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
MarkG

Thanks SvedasFish!!

I will talk to my dealer and see if he can get me the poles. I am a DIY'er and should be able to figure this out.

Thanks again for taking the time to post pics.
