Hey Rob,
Your post prompted me to visit SR and take a nervous look at the 47. I'm surprised, because I thought I'd hate it as much or more as you do, but I'm impressed - I might even like it!
The salon windows are maybe more "swoopy" than I would've penned, but otherwise her lines are clean and fresh and non-objectionable. This is especially true considering that she has to be tall enough to accomodate a full-beam master?!?!
It looks like they've committed to correcting some of the questionable features such as the BIG hull-side windows.
That master is awesome looking, at least in the brochures. The beds have a shape that resemble beds and still have room on the sides?
I might hate it at the boat show, but I'm liking the web pix so far!

but SLW...will you hit your head in that master like in the 58? And, it looks like a Cruisers 477 sedan!
That 47 looks like some fancy Euro builders boat or a Miami apartment. Not impressed with the bridge design- how are you supposed to drive from way in the back let alone 3 or 4 guests on the bridge sitting in your line of sight.
The theme now seems to be straight lines for the interiors. I was interested in the 33, I like that they designed the dash to accomodate 2 screens + the smartview, unlike the bridge of the 36 sedan.

I agree - it looks like a new condo in Miami, especially the master. I guess that's why I like it!
The bridge design is very much like the 480 and 500/52DB's, which are some of the nicest and friendlist bridges out there. The space is smaller here, so there could be issues. If you've ever been on a 480DB, you can have someone next to you, and 5-6 others in front of you and still see everything you need to.

DB? Hey SLW...I moved that nastily ugly 480 MotorYacht in Cedar Point today over to our booth for the show. Ugly a$$ boat, but it handled surprisingly well. The salon is VERY narrow for such a big boat!
DB is the model designation for a Sedan Bridge.
There's just no safe place to rest your eyes when looking at a SeaRay MY. You'd think it would at least feel roomy, for being that ugly, but it feels cramped instead. I guess we're not helping to sell the dang thing though, eh?

that 58 isnt' bad looking, the styling is fairly clean, not over the top.
i woudl hate to have to get into this engine room and have to got thru these engines when hot... I hope there is really nothing that could need attention back there...
then i clicked on the ER pic for the 60 footer ! are they kidding ?
is that the ER of a 60footer ? it looks like equipement has been randomly sprinkled about the ER... how are you supposed to get to the racors ? let see... you climb over the genny, turn sideways to make sure you dont' touch those hot Man
then step over, sideways over some batteries and over misc. wiring and plumbing !!
need to work on the ACs ? no problem... you'll have to wait till the next day for the engines to cool off so you or the tech can lay on top of the engines...
need to refill those batteries on the left ? lay on the genset or step on the batteries since there is no room to put your foot down...
god only knows where the strainers and bilge pumps are buried...
no wonder they dont't show ER pics for the smaller boats...

People complain about alot of things SeaRay does, most of which I ignore, but their ER layout has to be the worse I have ever seen. Even my 2003 290 Amberjack was not that great for a boat that had a wide beam for that size boat.
IMHO, Searay does a great job in many aspects of their boats, but once you get down in the bilge, it makes you sick.
As we all know SeaRays are not cheap boats, makes one wonder about the buyers.

It looks like the problem with the 60 isn't simply a sloppy layout, it's a LOT of stuff! Put together, it appears that the cooling units alone are consuming as much space as one of those MANs.
Those batts are demanding a lot of real-estate too. Cablemasters, genny, batteries, these are things that in other style of boats are located in a lazarette or stashed somewhere else on the boat. Apparently here they needed/wanted to cram everything in one room.

I think they do a better job on the engine space layout on the smaller boats, based on my boat. I have tons of room to get to everything in the space. Nothing seems to be shoe-horned in or inaccessible (so far). There are lots of places to put a foot, and there is actually a good bit of room for storage. Of course, it is 27 feet with a single engine and no AC or genny.

LOl.. single stern drive, no genny, no ac... that's not too hard !
I've seen the ER of mid 30 dancers, a complete nightmare. have to crawl over the main to reach the genny, everything is in the way of everything... they pay no attention whatsoever at service... make no mistake, you pay for this wth higher service costs and higher boat prices since warranty works takes longer.

True, however w/ "V" drives, there is really no other way to configure the 330 dancer. IMHO it should have had an outdrive or pulse drive configuration only. That would have allowed configurations to open up a TON of room in the ER.

i don't really get this vee drive leaves no room thing... engines are the same, they take the same amount of space. the tranny adds a little bit at the forward end but not that much. you can still have a lot of room in the back of the engines for a genset, on centerline so it's accessible.
i wish i have pictures of the EC i had on my old maxum 37, I know it's a little bigger than the 330/340 but the layout was perfect with everything accessible. i could sit behind the engines for impeller, belts, etc... or by the gensets. batteries, strainers, every thing was accessible.

yeah, I was about to "PLEASE" that one. If anything, stern drives could make it WORSE, by shoving the engines all the way to the transom.
330's were available with stern drives, but it was an unpopular option.
The ER on the 400DA is about the friendliest I've ever seen on a sub 60 footer, so it's not always a SeaRay thing, as much as a SeaRay in particular models/sizes...
