Sea Ray is offering good deals for a 32 DA ($185K) by Sept 1. I own a 1995 30ft DA and am being tempted. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with the new 32?

My buddy just bought a 2007 320 and paid 180k at Surfside in Lindenhurst. It's really not a great deal. Don't believe the ad you see in newsday. It's a gimmick. At the Javits boat show in January you could have bought the 320 for that price so there is no discount really. There are over 10 320's left in Long Island so I would hold on to my money and wait for the price to drop further. In Sept the new 2008 330 is coming to the dealer lots which is replacing the 320. The 320 layout is great. However many say it is underpowered with the 350 vdrives and should have the 6.2's instead. Another thing is the 320's that you are looking at don't have a generator. They are going to charge you cash extra to put one in and it is a necessity on a boat this size. I was at the Walt Whitman show last weekend. I think if you wait the boat can be had for less $$. Just my .02.

I agree with dcwjd, I had a left over 2006 320 written up at this past Javits boat show for around $165 and when I got home I realized it had no genny.... deal was not as tempting any longer plus I was struggling with the power set up (350's too).

What are they listing the MSRP as on the boat offered at 185?

Thanks Guys - this is exactly what I wanted to hear. the boat has no genny, - but I would put one in (for like $7.5k?), they are telling me I can take ownership in april 08 - and all warranties start then. comes pretty loaded after that. I figure the electronics is going to add another 7 K also. I see used 06s prob would go for $155K. the only thing tempting me is that I could walk away from my boat now - and walk into new in April. My boat is nice, but had it for 5 years and the 2007 inside is pretty plush. Based on this feedback I won't rush into anything.

What do you think of the 07 310 for 150 with genny and electronics and grill (list 232)? Almost as big as the 320 and new in 07.

07 310 ?? is that the 06 300 ? WTF.... so do i know own a 450 that was last years 44 that was the year befores 42 ?

Holy crap wtf.....

Rob

I like the new 310 with rumble seat and grill - but its not much bigger than what I have - plus the dealer here does not have one. Also don't like to buy first year models - they always have some kinks.

jaspar01 taking delivery in april 08, are they holding the note until then or are you making payments between now and then? just curious because the interest over the next 7 months is roughly $7k, factor that into the selling price and you just over $175 present value.

in October the Tobay show will be on, you may do better then especially if the weather is lousy.

New to this forum. Just bought a 99/00/07 330 for a fraction of what they are calling for new, so I can't speak to the "value" of a new sale. This is my first larger (to me) boat so be gentle when I ask stupid stuff.

Robski97's post hit the nail on the head. As the world gets smaller and the marketplace gets more competitive, boats will be shipped globally to consumers. For a number of reasons, one of which is in order to maximize space utilization on a cargo ship, ISO is trying to set standards for boat measurement. It will be best for the consumer and scares US manufacturers to death as you can finally do an apples to apples comparison. The Regal 420 was a 360 at birth. The hull never changed. Ditto the 4260 morph to the 4460.

The rule of thumb I use is to measure the length at the water line. Rommer taught me that one. Everything in front of it is normally inaccessible or storing anchor rode and everything behind it is swim platform. I find it to be a good indication of the size boat you are REALLY getting regardless of what sticker says on the side of the boat.

My $0.02

I have an 07 - 320 - there is more room on the negotiation. Do what I did write a contract on another boat at another dealer - intending to buy it. Then go back to them, all of the sudden the deal got a WHOLE lot better. The boat has been a great boat. We have 80 hours on it. It is V-Drives. Mechanically had no issues. We have had some minor warranty issues - mainly little things. We compared the 310 and 320 and the 320 had so much more room. But the 310 had newer lines. But the money was similiar. The new 330 will be substantially more than the 320.

The 07 310 was meant to replace the 300 but wasn't successfull in doing so. It has a 10'6" beam whereas the 320 has 11'6". The lines of the boat are beautiful and that is definitely the direction sea ray is going since the 330 looks exactly like it with rumble seat as well. If you look up the fuel consumption and speed numbers it is very slow with the 350vd and consumes much too much gas for what is essentially a 30 footer. I believe the 320 is actually faster and consumes less gph. Also you lose storage in the back with no fender locker available with the rumble seat. I have been boating on Long Island south shore all summer and have yet to see one on the water. I would skip the 310 and try to negotiate further on the 320.

Just looked at the 310 on the sea ray site, I see they finally incorporated a walkthrough windshield. Anyone have photos or links for the 330?

Actually....You are riding around in my 410DA which used to be the 400DA....so in all reality, the new 45 is a 40....I think....

I had a 320 built last yesr and put the 6.2 I/O's in it. The boat performs great. It's unfortunately a real dog with the 350 inboards. Lot's of space and a good looking boat. I just saw the new 330 at the dealer and they did a real good job on it but you will pay dearly. I paid $185k for mine which was pretty well loaded out. Only thing I didn't put in it was a generator and I cant say I've missed it once. For $8k the only time you'll really need it is when you're on the hook. Good luck.

just my .02, but that new 310 is horrible. Super small inside, and that idiotic rumble seat takes away alot of storage. How often would that thing be used anyway. I saw the 310 at our local boat show, I open up what I thought was storage, and this seat popped out, when I went to close it, the thing kind of jammed and the backrest cushion ended up getting cut by the fiberglass edge around the opening. I hope it's optional.

I'm still looking at it. when you say the boat with the 350 is a dog - what exactly do you mean. I know people with the boat and they say they cruise at 25 knots - Is that a dog?

I don't know on the Dog comment with 350 Mag's V's. The boat cruises comfortable at 25 mph at 3600 plus RPM's. It is not an outdrive boat - so it is not a 40 plus mph boat. But with inboards and 6.2's the performance seems very similar to me. Outdrives give you another 2 mph at different cruise speeds, plus faster WOT. But the maintenance on Bravo III's will leave you out of the water more often. I have been very happy, and I had a 260 with a big block before this.

The 310 and the 330 were in Norwalk this past weekend and will be at Tobay this week. The Odd numbered series usually correspond to the newer designs from 2007/2008. I think eventually you'll see a 350 when the 340 is retired.

Although I'm relatively new in the business (2months), I've driven all of these boats and a few others. The 310 (IMHO) is no dog. She cruises nicely at 28-29 knots. The 340 is a beast! with T-8.1's she runs 30-32Knots at about 80% of WOT. At 3500 RPM you'll cruise 28-29 Knots no problem.

As for when is the "right" time to buy for the "best" deal....If your looking at SR your most likely talking to MM (HZO). Their fiscal year runs same as Calendar year which puts Q3 close at Sept 30th.

With the current state of the economy and housing market, it's no secret 2007 has been a tough year for any company selling luxury items. Also, most car dealers (and probably boat dealers) have existing inventory that they classify as "Floor Plan" meaning they pay little or no interest on the inventory (MFG pays) until an agreed upon time in the future. Often, this expires when the new Model year becomes available. Quite often this is September.

SO, because all public companies discount to make QTR end numbers, and the whole floor plan scenario, I'd say now is a better time to buy than NY boat show or any other time.

If MM (HZO) misses Q3, they will most likely say F'it, we missed Q3 anyway, might as well lower guidance for FY08 and keep margins up.

Its been many years since a public boat dealer has been in this predicament. The boating industry has enjoyed YOY sales growth of 10-20% the past few years. Wall Street rewards growth and punishes flat or declining revenue. Right now its all about revenue for MM (IMHO) and margins are secondary.

If your buying a boat soon from MM I would not wait until the second weekend of Tobay (Oct.) to do so. By then it's too late for them. Additionally, they were telling people at Norwalk the SR incentives are up on Sept 30th. Coincidence?

We'll see.

Just bought an '07 310 2 weeks ago and it is top of the line. I was hesitant to buy a new model first year but couldn't resist. 6.2 horizons move this boat loaded down with NO problem whatsoever. And actually the bolster seat works great...the extra seating makes the boat feel more like a 34 when you have guests. And there is locker space behind the seat. I'm not sure how large the person is who said this boat is small in the cabin but I'm 6'6 and I have no problems. That's why we chose this one...nice space, GREAT lines, ultra modern, and doesn't gulp the gas like the slightly bigger ones. We have had some warranty snags to work out but more of a service dept problem. Love the boat...
