New Fire Island inlet photo, Enjoy..

"Recent picture of the new inlet at "Old inlet" Fire Island. Approximately 300ft wide and 8 feet deep!"
It was a large inlet until the early 1800's when it closed up. Since then it has opened during many storms, but quickly closed each time. Apparently Hurricane Sandy opened it more than any other storm in the past 200 years. As of today, there are no plans to close it....

nice looking little inlet but it will colse up soon from the westward sand drift.
 
Just what bellport needs more shoal shifting ....

UGH .

But i am fan have having the bay be cleaner !

Looks like it just keeps getting bigger. I wonder what the depth is.
