Hey to all, glad to make to this new forum, sucks that the old one was cut off.
I am a new owner of a 93 ventura 6.8 with a 7.4l. Its a great boat, my first one since owning a couple of jetskis in 1995. I have a 23 prop, which seems to be just about correct, my rpm's hit 4400 (the engine is rated at 4200-4600.) It is a little hard to plane out with 5 people and 2 dogs aboard, but if I get 3 people up front, it does o.k. Do you think a 4 blade propeller will help. (I dont think they make a 22 propeller.) I have been thinking about trim tabs, but they are relatively expensive. I have read about Smart tabs which are in the $200 range. Has anyone used these? Thanks

Hi istubbs:
Are you running a stainless or aluminum prop? Changing the prop material to stainless will give you better hole shot as there is less flex in stainless. What drive are you running Merc?

Then maybe a four bladed prop is the way to go, but I think you may have to drop an inch of pitch. I think they are availble in odd number pitches. Not sure about this but I believe that is the cast with alpha drives. Which Bravo drive do you have I, II or III.
