New Oil

Same here. Delivered the Triple. Figured I would take it since it was already delivered to the store.

Hank When I picked up my Pink there was plenty of Triple in stock I didn't buy it at the time because the T5 was a better deal and then they shipped me Triple I'm sorry but this is false advertising I'm pretty pissed about the this. They actually told me they don't go by the picture in the ad but the description yet in the ads on line I did a search for T5 and a bunch of pictures of different oil come up and I selected the oil I wanted. When I went back to checked my conformation email it says "Rotella T" It doesn't say Triple or 5 so there is really no way to determine what they are selling. I won't be buying oil on line in the future at least not from Walmart.
Tractor supply is cheaper and a few minutes from the boat and they have both 5 and 1 gallon jugs in stock.

Gentlemen, I am no expert, but I always thought the reason to put fresh oil in engines before layup was to avoid having the contaminants and other crap sitting in the oil all winter. It was never about the oil breaking down unless of course you put 200+ hours on your boat during the season, which very few receational boaters ever do

Do the contaminants destroy the oil if it sits for 5 months?

If you were using the boat 12 months out of the year those same contaminants would be in the oil ALL year while you were using the boat until you hit your hour limit and then changed it out.

Tell me what I am missing.

Not sure I buy into the the T5. Synthetic blend? I think it's like antifreeze when you buy pure or 50/50 mix. What are the mixing it with?
So half is oil and other half is something they made in a laboratory. That is why it is cheaper.

I am using the T3 which I have used for 3 years now with no issues. Don't F with stuff that works to save a few dollars! In the end it's not always worth it!

My .02.

the T5 is actually much more expensive. Walmart had it listed wrong so they shipped us T3 anyway so for this year it's a moot point.

In my last boat I found that Rotella smoked a bit more in my genset, after switching to Mobil Delvac it was better.

I run Delvac 1300 now exclusively.

Rotella 15W40 is the best for any diesel engines. Is the oil mixes very well with suds. if you do the oil change when the oil is really hot almost 90% of the suds come out. That's MY OPINION. On diesel engines I'm not a fan of syntechtic oil .
