New Raritan Vortex Vacu Flush head?

Vic the price difference doesn't bother me thanks for giving me the new part number. Any idea when they will start making them? It is a winter project for me but I would like to pre-pay if possible? Let me know. Take care. Bill

Vic - Gene did call me, thanks. Shoot me an e-mail with his e-mail so I can follow up please (I was driving when he called and I couldn't take notes).

Vic,

This is extremely interesting. As you know from our previous conversations, I will need to replace my Crown Head before the boat is launched in spring. What do you think about substituting one of these?

Jeff

Jeff, I think it would be a terrific idea, particularly if you can run it off of pressure water.

When comparing it with the Crown Head, it would be like comparing a Model "T" Ford, to a new Lincoln Town Car. Either one will do the job for you, but you (and the Admiral) will like the Elegance a whole lot better.

Mimi, what's your time frame? I would expect that the taller version with the straight back on it will be available by late spring or early summer. Otherwise yes, you could build a small platform maybe 2"-4" high, to accomodate it. I wouldn't be overly concerned about the angled back on it; I don't envision that being any sort of problem.

How I wish I could say we're in a desperate hurry, Vic, and mere days away from casting off the dock lines, but we're not. Next summer'll be plenty soon enough. How good of y'all to come up with a better, cheaper solution for us in such a timely fashion!

I understand completely. We'll be showing the Marine Elegance at the Houseboat Show in Lou-a-vul, KY after the holidays. Only I'm not scheduled to go this year, so if you stop by the booth you'll have to talk with someone who's in a younger age group than me. :(:(

Yes, we made special plans to meet your requirements for next summer - in fact, we have your phone lines tapped...[:-bigeyes]

Not sure Lou-a-vul is on our gotta-go list this year, even with the added attraction of those cute young guys at the Raritan booth. It's still winter in Kentucky that time of year, or was last time we went. What with such excellent practical advice available as close as our nearest laptop, we don't have to battle IFR weather with low-level icing and scattered snow showers. Besides, by then, maybe the azalea buds will be swelling here.

Our guys who will be going to the Houseboat Show will be a trifle younger, but I'm not so sure they'll be cuter. [:-bonc01] [:-bonc01]

Yes, I hear ya about traveling that time of the year; it'll be in late February (brrrr!!!) Oh btw, are you or your husband a pilot? (your mention of IFR weather, etc.)

Ah yes, the azalea buds...! [:-jump] Spring is on the way!!! [:-jump]

Vic is there any problem using this new toilet with an Electra-San?

Hey, Vic- 'cute' and 'young' are becoming increasingly broad categories at this stage of the game.
February? Ugh. That settles it. Only place this girl's bird is headed that time of year is due south! The one wrestling with the prospect of trading 165 knots in any direction for 8 knots down the middle of the channel would be me, at husband's suggestion, a few decades back. He said flying lessons were probably cheaper than psychiatry... he was wrong.

Bill (with the Gibson HB), no problem at all. Any Raritan toilet can be used with a Lectra/San or Electro-scan treatment system.

Mimi, yes it seems that "young and cute" is becoming a broader and broader field all the time. I can remember when I wouldn't look twice at a gal who was over 45, but these days...

Vic I got a call from one of your girls the new head is and on it's way. I am hoping we might get it in for a #2 test next week before we pull the boat. It is to be delivered to the marina tomorrow! Man I am hoping and feel confident this will fix my YL's lets just say problem!
Thank you. Bill

Bill, I gave you a bad part number over the phone for the Purasan. The PST1203 is only the Purasan; for the Hold N' Treat with the Purasan, it is part # 21SP1512. My bad!

Everybody, Bill just ordered the very first Marine Elegance head that I've sold! Other members of the company have gotten a few pre-production orders, but Bill was the first one from me!

Woo-Woo!!!

[:-jump][:-jump2][:-jump][:-jump2]

Vic I am just getting around placing the order here is what I need the PuraSan is a PST1203, however I already have a holding tank so can I order the Hold-N-Treat controls system without a tank? If so what is the part number for the components I need? If the HNT is only available as a package aka 21SP1512 I guess I can take off the components and discard the holding tank. I am hoping I can use my existing holding tank and macerator and just add the PurSan with the Hold-N-Treat control system. Please advise so I can place my order here on BoatFix. Would the part number be 21B12 along with the PST1203?
Thanks Bill

Is Les carring the Elegance in Bone yet? Checked Boat Fix and did not find it. Saw it at the AC show and would like to replace one of my crown units. I did convert the crown ot freshwater.

I was able to get mine in bone but it wasn't avaiable here at the time I got it from Rariran direct. Vic has the part# above for the "Bone" freshwater Elegance. I did purchase my PuraSan and Hold-N-Treat electronics and pump here at BoatFix.

Happy New Year, Vic. I talked you last year about replacing a worn out Crown Head with the new Marine Elegance unit. I am getting ready to place the order and have a few questions...

What all do I need to order for the installation? I am looking for a fresh-water, white, 12V unit that I believe to be part number 220HF01202. However, there seem to be several flush controls mentioned in the installation manual. Do I need to order that seperatly, or is the control included with the toilet itself? What is the difference between the 220HF01202 and 220HF01212?

Thanks for the help!

Jeff

Jeff, I got your direct e-mail to me at the office, but thought I'd rather answer your query here, so that more people would be able to view the answer. In addition to the toilet itself, wire, terminals, hose and clamps, you'll need plumbing fittings to allow you to tee into the pressurized fresh water system on the boat. If it were I, I'd tee into the pressure line, then add a SHUTOFF VALVE, then plumb from there to the toilet. The shutoff valve can be extremely useful when servicing the head in the future.

The toilets come complete. If you order the pressurized fresh water version, it comes with the solenoid valve and vacuum breaker built-in. If you order the raw water flushing version, the remotely-mounted raw water pump is included. A mounting kit is also provided (to mount the head to the deck). The style of switch you select is also included with the toilet. A matching household-size seat is also included with each toilet.

The part number you inquired about (# 220HF01202) is a Marine Elegance, household size seat (all Elegance models have this), in white, 12 volt, with a basic push button switch. You push the buttom, it flushes. You let go of the button, it stops flushing. This is the least-expensive, bare bones model. You asked about the difference between this model and a # 220HF01212 - the difference is that there's no such model as a 220HF01212. It doesn't exist.

Here's the model number breakdown:
220 = Marine Elegance
H = household size seat (they all have it); if you add an "A" before the "H", it is bone colored, rather than white. No "A" before the "H" indicates that it is white in color.
F = solenoid valve and vacuum breaker for connection to onboard pressurized fresh water.
An "R" instead of an "F" indicates it is supplied with a remotely-mounted seawater pump, for raw water flushing.
0 = indicates that the fittings are straight hose connections, not 90 degree hose connections (all Marine Elegance units have the straight hose connections, pointing down toward the deck).
12 = 12 volt (24 in place of the 12 indicates the head is a 24 volt model. The Marine Elegance is not offered in 32 volt or in 120 or 240 volt).

Examples: 220HF012 = Marine Elegance; household size seat and bowl in white; built-in solenoid valve and vacuum breaker for connection to onboard fresh water; straight hose fittings, pointing down; 12 volt, with Smart Control, fully programmable switch.
220AHR012 = Marine Elegance; bone-colored household sized bowl and seat; remote intake pump for raw water flushing, straight hose connections pointing down, 12 volt, Smart Control, fully programmable switch.

A little bit about the (3) switch styles of switches available:
Switch styles are entered after the voltage, at the end of the model number. No entry = Smart Control, as described above. It has (4) buttons on the panel: 1) Normal Flush (timed flush - water in, 3 short discharge bursts, water in again); 2) Water Saver Flush (water in, 1 short burst, water in again); 3) Empty Only - push and hold the button, water will leave the bowl without any coming in; 4) Water In only - push and hold the button, water will come into the bowl. This has a timed cutoff and will only fill the bowl about 2/3 full, so that it can't overflow the bowl if kids are playing with it. This switch (Smart Control)is included with the most expensive version of the head.

01 entered after the voltage (12 or 24) = a 3 button momentary switch panel, allowing 1) water-only to come into the bowl, 2) water to exit the bowl without any water coming in, or 3) water in and water out, simultaneously. These are manual buttons that must be pressed in and held, for the function desired. this is the midrange priced version of the head.

02 entered after the voltage (12 or 24) = single push button switch. Push the button and water comes in and out simultaneously while the button is pressed. Let go of the button and it stops. This is the least expensive of the 3 versions of the head.

All versions of the Marine Elegance head have a built-in loop, enabling the head to retain water in the bowl between flushes. There is no need for external vented loop fittings to be added if you wish to retain water in the bowl. Additionally, the 4 button and the 3 button switch versions also have the ability to empty the bowl, if this is desired - such as when rough seas are coming up, and you don't want the water splashing out of the toilet onto the decking.

The programmable switch is the most popular version of the head, but is also the most expensive.

At the Miami boat Show which just concluded, we introduced the Marine Elegance head with Sea/Fresh Option. This is an extra-cost add-on kit that allows the user to select either pressurized fresh water OR raw water (seawater) as the flushing media. A switch is included with all the other parts necessary, that allows switching from one flushing media to the other, at will. I don't have all the specific details on it just yet, but it will be put on our website shortly.

Thanks, Vic! I sincerely appreciate the help and am looking forward to installation. The boat launches two months from today and I'm counting the minutes...

Hi, I just purchased a 455 Carver with a vacu flush system, my last boat 3607 Carver I replaced both heads with Raritan Electric.
These performed great. Is there problems with vacu flush that I should know about or should I just swwitch to the new Vortex ?
