Boat is enroute north and is stranded. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!!

3 or 4 bolts, 2 wires. 30 minutes max. And if it s on the boat I think it is it s easy to reach

you have 8V92s? Not 71s?

Well you said the boat is stranded. Who s on board trying to head north?

those big, old starters - usually you can get at least a few more starts just by whacking them a few times with a hammer. Guess the transport captains wouldn't like that as a fix though!

It actually wouldn’t disengage, and now the motor is running but nothing else so seems like shaft is broken

Can’t say if the 8-92’s are the same, but I’ve done a handful of ‘away from home port’ starter swaps on 6-92TA’s. Not difficult at all. Whatever is wrong with it, it has to come off anyways, so swapping in a new or repop starter should be simple if it’s accessible.

Any half decent delivery captain should be able to replace a starter.... the hardest part is usually being able to get one quickly. Of course if you have to wait for it... the clock is ticking

I agree. Pull the starter and bring it to a shop as suggested above to get it rebuild.
