Last night there were 655 users all on BoaterEd at the same time, breaking a record from 2002.

Alot of you were casual users here to see what we are all about. Why don't you take the plunge and sign on with us. It's free and you then have the opportunity to ask questions, get prompt answers and share expertise of your own with others.
You may have noticed that there are no flamers and rudeness is not tolerated here. We are all about safe and enjoyable boating first and foremost.

After a while you may feel that you want to sign on with an "anchor", that signifies those of us that pay $20 a year to help keep the site viable and running. No obligation at all. Usually we get members anchoring up when something on this site has saved them a lot of money or time or has helped avoid a large repair bill by suggesting a simple solution to what seemed to be a major problem.

Once anchored you will also have access to our search engine and the infamous NBR area where things get a little more interesting and we stray into topics like politics, religion, current affairs and whether it is correct to wear socks with topsiders.
Again there is certain behavior which is not tolerated in NBR but the guidelines are looser.

We have a Mascot there, BOSUN the BoaterEd Moose who travels the country visiting various members and has even been on the CBS News at Noon. He is continually being harrassed by a parrot that thinks he should be the official mascot.

So, Lurkers, sign up, jump in, the water's fine...
