So we're hanging at the dock today, and one of our buddies suggests going to Newburg for some chow. We hop on his boat and head north, some very nice foliage along the way. A great meal at the River Grill, and back to PBM.

I am spending my last Sunday night on the boat...

It looked like a nice weekend. It was visiting day at my kids college so I wasn't around. I dropped the boat off on Friday the headed up to Oneonta. They pulled my boat Saturday and I stopped by this afternoon to check on it. The paint seems to have help well but will need another coat the surprise was I must have hit something because there is a nice zing in my prop and I had them both redone this spring. I don't remember touching anything this season, at least not with my prop. Bummer :(

Dave, the trip up to Newburgh was great, beautiful foliage, calm waters, excellent food.

What sucks the most it that after next weekend, we have to acutally figure out what we are doing on Friday nights... (and the rest of the weekend)

Although it's not the same we enjoyed the car ride upstate it's interesting to see the change in the foliage as you drive upstate. As for Friday nights that is always the big question once the boat is out. I tend to go into hibernation mode I work many more hours including the occasional weekend which is almost unthinkable during boating season. I pass time dreaming of next summer and what plans I have for upgrades during the off season.

I will be spending my weekends after early December helping remove the SmartCraft displays & wiring for Stan (Estimator) from my 8.1L HO gassers. Then I get to start running and supervising the upgrades and new installation of the Yanmars, generator, dash reconstruction and hydronic boiler system. Between that my wife and I will be traveling to North Carolina watching our (manufactured) home be assembled and meeting with various contractors. Then I have my ham radio station to build in North Carolina. My wife and I are going to have a very busy winter schedule this year. We also have to get the junk we have collected over the last 2 decades out of our main NJ home that is under contract (sold).
Mike why are you pulling out so early is it a marina requirement? We lose dock water around Thanksgiving but I move my boat up to the marina to refill the tanks from the shop hose. I don't feel like unpickling the watermaker this season since we are pulling out 2 weeks early.

Bill, both marina & insurance requirements. I pulled the Scout today, scrubbed the hull & changed the oil. When I get it home, I'll change the lower unit oil & cover it up.

You keep the Scout at home for the winter? If only you had room for the Trojan you could save a boat load of money.

Mike my old Zurich policy ended the season on November 15th. It also limited my cruising from Mass to the Southern Chesapeake. Once I went with US Boats my premium was slightly less and I have a year round policy as long as I take steps to eliminate freezing damage and cruising territory went from the Northeast Canadian Maritimes to Jacksonville Florida. This turned out to be a win win for us. My marine turns off the water near the end of November but I can move the boat to an empty slip near the travel lift. Then I only need about 100 feet of hose to refill the water tanks. They would allow me to stay in year round if I wanted but I don't feel the boat's water system is properly protected to do this yet. This year I'm coming out a few weeks early to get started on the conversion and upgrades.
Pretty sure I will be back in the 1st or 2nd week of March like this year.
I have to agree with you it sure has been a great year for boating. It's windy and real cold outside tonight but plenty warm in the boat.

Maybe not with the transportation charges assuming the arch didn't have to be layed over
