NJ Vacation

I know Barnegatt is shallow in spots and it twists around. But if you have gone to Red Bank or the Channel Club you are used to shallow water on the way in.

Dan the last time I want to CC I had a different boat with a 29" draft I'm a little nervous about going there in this boat as well but I would still plan to go there. I need to get busy making plans time is running out and I still have no plans except CC for three days. I need to fill in the rest of this vacation. I need to fix my genny before I plan to spend a night on a hook or mooring. I plan to head to the boat this afternoon to work on it, I'm hoping is just a fuel filter hopefully I will take care of it today.

Dave,

I draw 4'4" and I didn't have any issues at CC last year. Haven't been there yet this year.

I was through the Barnegat Inlet twice last weekend. There was plenty of water in the channel proper. The approaching oyster creek channel also had plenty of water. I never felt threatened by shallow water.

That said....just outside the oyster creek channel the Sea Gulls can stand on land....so it's imperative to stay in the channel. That's the challenge. Especially when you have so many small boats drifting and fishing the channel. Many times they will be blocking the next marker from your view. If in doubt, slow down and you shouldn't have a problem.

I have roughly the same draft I'm not concerned about being in CC it's getting there that's the problem. Last time I missed a marker and I got lucky I don't think this would be the case in this boat.

Agreed. You need to stay in the channel, especially on approach to the marina.

Well first leg complete and uneventful two thumbs up for Atlantis. I just hoping that the weather holds out for my vacation plans so far has not be a problem but the forecast doesn't look great for the next few days. Do we have any members in the area here?
