I'm looking for an emergency jumper and this one even has the Bill D endorsement. Cheap, compact, 1,000 amp should be plenty, and it can charge phone, etc. Anybody else have experience or thoughts?

I have a few of them, but I got the 2000....better to have the extra juice if I need it.

I never realized how handy they were until I got one, jumping ATV's, my old beater pickup, my tractor...

I do plan to keep one of them on the boat this summer.

No case, I keep it in my recovery gear box in my 4Runner...and I charge it with the phone charger cord, it works fine...
 
The boat's got a 4 banger volvo, so I don't see any value in upsizing. What do you think?
 
The way I looked at it was better to have it and not need it...
 
I agree with Brian. Always better to have more than you need!
 
Not familiar with these but the problem with all those things are the clamps. Not enough contact surface to get power thru. I wish they would come up with better clamps with larger contact surface
 
Must have a way to charg it but I didn’t see it
 
How did you all settle on the NOCO brand? I was going to buy a jump starter a month or two ago, but got overwhelmed by the choices.

I looked into it because Bill D mentioned it.

Pilot Error, it charges with a usb cord into a wall outlet. Adapter available. Charges to your phone, tablet, etc. the same route.

The local marine mechanic I have used a few times carries them in his service truck and swears by them.
 
I don’t see charging with USB as being efficient... must take days.

I have a DeWalt and a Schumacher. They both work pretty well except for the high resistance clips mentioned earlier

Last time I charged it was when I bought it, took about 8 hours from dead to charged. I have used it to jump a truck, a tractor, and a 4 wheeler so far and its' still showing almost fully charged. I'm curious to see how many times I can use it before it gets to half.

what is the LIFE EXPECTENCY of these products?

I've used mine about 10 or more times. Only once on one of my vehicles, but I've "rescued" a number of ladies in parking lots. Jumped one boat. They are easy to store in your console. You don't have to move your vehicle around to jump start someone. So far I have not had a issue with the short cable, but I could see where that might be a problem. The jumper cables are heavy gauge and the clamps are as big as ones on heavy duty jumper cables. I top mine off after any use or about every 3 months, which ever comes first. GeeBee told me about them. Go at least one size bigger than you think you need, more is almost always better.
 
I bought an AntiGravity XP-10 seven or eight years back and it has been a great tool. After having it for about 8 months and using to jump multiple vehicles and a couple boats at the ramp I got three more as Christmas gifts for our daughters and the admirals SUVs. I've used this thing to start my old Ford diesel tractor, multiple boats, my 7.3l diesel truck and numerous vehicles. The one in my truck goes with us when we take out the Grady. One daughter has helped several people get their car started in parking lots. Even saved a buddies morning deer hunt when his phone was dead so he took the charger with him to the blind. :)
Like Bill, I tend to charge mine after any use and/or every 5-6 months but I don't think I've ever seen it get down to 50%.
Regardless of which one you choose I think you'll be pleased.

Mine are new, but the one my mechanic friend has is at least a few years old and has seen heavy use on the local lakes and in his service truck.
