Non Skid Areas

Is there a negative not to use a product like sure step or woody wax on the non skid surfaces and jsut leave without anything on it?

I applied Sure Step on my non-skid once...I think thats the only time in its life it ever had anything on it..., the only difference I saw was that it was easier to clean with it on...

Some products provide protection. I use Starbrite Non-Skid Deck Cleaner.
