The admiral and I made the plunge and now added a 3497 AKA 380 Santego to our fleet. With lots of elbow grease and sweat equity, (and lots on cash) we hope to have our new boat shipshape by spring-another winter project for yours truly. Anyhow, we are thrilled. For anyone interested, our 86 32' Mariner will soon be on the market. Sweet deal for anyone looking for a turnkey Mariner. Details to follow soon.

My wife loves the Santego. We have a friend who has one. Tons of room inside and on top.

Congrats! I love the layout of the 380. I really like the way the flybridge is set up. It's perfect for just a couple cruising because they can sit side by side at the helm, or you can have a ton of friends join you up there and you don't have to look backward to speak to them.

Yes, love the Santego as well, looked at a'89 model on Saturday for sale up here on Georgian Bay, trying to resist the two boat owner situation and all that brings with it. Please keep us posted on your progress, and any interesting details you discover/uncover.

My 'admiral' still can't get her head around the fact that there is no seperate mid/aft cabin...she just doesn't want guests to have to sleep in the middle of the salon, in spite of all the other attributes the Santego offers. Bridge entertainment space IS awesome!

Our friend fixed the transom seat to face either forward or backward for when at the dock.

Was down at the boat in the boatyard today to pressure wash the whole boat-topside and hull. What a difference a good washdown makes. PO left a lot of goodies that I still have to work through but still feeling that I gpt a helluva deal. Looks like fairly new full canvas-just in need of good cleaning as well as full mooring covers for the helm and cockpit seating. I will need new electronics-the existing Loran is somewhat outdated, as well as the Raytheon 400 sumptin "color fishfinder/depthfinder". I'll be saving up/researching replacement electronics over the winter-any suggestions appreciated. Hoping to get it splashed and to the dock this week.

I have a Raymarine C-70 chartplotter for sale. Works with sea talk, radar, auto pilot, depth or fish finder. Color. Comes with sun cover and trunion bracket. 216-570-0092

Lowrance darn good bang for the $ and the HDS 10 and the digital radar rock.

Not only is LORAN equipment outdated the transmitters are no longer on the air. LORAN is worthless except to pull old waypoints from.
I am a huge Garmin fan especially the newer plotters and equipment that are NMEA2000 compliant.

One thing I agree and hope Garmin comes out with is "digital low power broadband radar" it is unreal especially in close situations.
I have the latest digital Garmin radar the GMR18HD and had a GMR24HD but they don't hold a candle to the new solid state low power broadband radars.
Garmins conventional digital processing HD radar is the only thing I am disappointed with my Garmin networked system.
However I have a FLIR which works well in all but the most dense fog for close quarters monitoring. The day Garmin announces a low power digital broadband radar I will be placing a pre-order for the unit.
