I had an engine oil leak and lost a fair amount of oil into the bilge. What is the best way to remove the oily residue from the bilge?

Is there an environmentally friendly product which you can just spray in and flush out?

Just pump it over the side. (joking) There are oil absorbant pads that work really well. There are some that you can wring out into a bucket and reuse.

Simple Green or Dawn dishwashing liquid work well. Throw them in, let them soak and swish around and then collect it somehow. Obviously you don't want this going overboard. Bilge cleaner would probably work too, but get as much out as possible first.

Simple green, shop vac and the oil absorbent towels. Pick up the globs of oil with the vac and then clean it out on shore.
