As we might expect the hotel is starving. I know all the people there were always friendly and tried to make things happen. Hopefully the marina will stay open.

If that marina shuts down there's going to be some serious changes to the routes many people take from the States to the Abacos and back, that's for sure. Sadly, the difference in the number of boats we observed there between May of '08 and May of '09 was significant. Although you'd think that fuel dock would be quite profitable for them.

Kurt I guess that depends. They probably have all sorts of union obligations that dictate a requirement for a manager, two pump attendants, a receptionist and etc.. If they only had one or two people there running the show that might be the case (profitability). But when we were there last it looked like they had no less than 4 or 5 folks.
Regardless people are already skirting the place due to the high rates they charge for docking. If they continue to punish the boaters for the sake of the rest of the place it's all going to crumble. We paid 3 bucks a foot when we left the Bahamas. Perhaps they still think they can fill the docks at that rate or maybe the transient traffic is the same regardless.

I paid $2.70/ft at OBB (that RMHYC discount really pays off :-)

You're right. Considering we paid well under $2/foot at Treasure, $3 is too much. We don't mind as we just spend one night coming and going and heck, it is vacation. But we saw a good number of boats when we got back to FL that were in Great Sale with us two nights prior and skipped OBB. We probably have enough range on the boat fuel-wise to get all the way around to Spanish (another over-priced trap) or Green Turtle. If OBB does shut down, we'll have to consider doing such next year.

When are you heading back?

Sometime in the fall. We'll see since it depends on the Hurricane season. Last year it was truncated and if that happens again we'll jump on it.
