Old forum news

Gald I found out where you guys are hanging out. This stinks what they've done to old owners forum.

Hello everybody,

Please have a look at the email I sent today to Regal :

"Dear Sirs,

I don't know if your are aware of the problems that appeared recently with the well known and famous internet site 'Regal Owner's Forum'. It seems that it has been closed and put for sale to the most offering buyer .

As someone stated on BoaterEd.com ( http://www.boated.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=102416 ) there is a great danger that some 'adult only' site decides to buy the different domain names containing the Regal term.

You must understand that this could be disastrous for the Regal company and reputation.

I hope you can do something about this threatening situation.

A very happy Regal owner (2465)

Let's hope they can do something about it (buy the domain names maybe ...???). I guess $5250 (or 5500, the next bid) is not that much for a company like Regal.

By doing this I hope I didn't offend our wonderful host Les. My idea is that Regal buys the domain names and to protect themself. They could hang on to them for futur use or just to avoid abuse.

That way all the member's personal information would be protected also.

I have some friends who host domains and websites. If we'd have known in advance, they told me they could have made a copy of the entire forum before it was shut down. (I didn't know you could do this?)

It would have been nice to have captured all the data.. and put up on a new site... like this one and/or there are lots of other domain names that could be used such as RegalOwners.us, etc. but once again, that is now past tense.

I think we'll be fine, and within short order things will be better than before. Change is always difficult, but maybe not all bad.. I say, lets move forward and no looking back. I think CoachRW hit it on the head with his boat name.. No Regrets.

Now all we've got to do is hope that CoachRW finds us here. :)

Hi Joel,

Unfortunately, I think we would have had to do it before it was gone... I was on it when it went away.. it was there one minute and gone the next.. maybe that was intentional so it couldn't be copied if advance notice was given. ??

It would have been nice to have the entire site archived. However, hindsight is always 20-20.

I agree with most of you, for selfish reasons, I wish Regal would purchase the old site. I am sure that there are pros and cons, either way. On the other hand, we can start over on this informative site. We could eventually become bigger and better than before and the rb2@gr5t#%#%#! who hi-jacked our site does not win.

I think it would be energy well spent to discover new ways to lead our old members here. Perhaps Regal could post a notice on the main Regal website directing old members here.

On the other hand I hope Regal doesn't put a dime in the a-holes pocket!

Let's all bid like crazy and have fun with this auction... as long as you don't have to commit to anything, it could be fun to see how high it can get. Nobody should pay this a$$ but we can definitely get him enthusiastic over nothing.

Lets remember, folks. WE were the old site! Without us , its' a domain to be bought or sold like a million others. We can make this site better! Cheers! P.S. I'd like to encourage all the Regal owners of older models to post their problems , accomplishments, projects, etc...

Yeah, funny almost got that right and I keep screwing up easy things like "Vaughn". I keep wanting to put a extra "a" in there for some reason. Apologize about that.

That's o.k., I get that a lot here as well ... ;-)

I called Regal a couple weeks ago to ask a couple questions about my boat and they asked me if I knew what happened tot he web site. They also asked me if I had heard anything from Ed. I don't think they new about this site yet. I think they would have told me if they did. I just found everone tonight.

Glad to see everyone again!

I just clicked on the old forum address and surprise, it took me to the Sea Ray Owners Club

Looks like no one has posted to that sight in 6 months or better
