I grew up in Rochester, NY and moved away to Mich. now Minnesota. But about 45 years ago, my grandfather had a place at Moon Light Bay by Cape Vincent. I remember three stone and wood piers and the bait shop was on one, boat launch by one and the marina was behind one of them close to the shore. The park was just bought by Frank or maybe Sunny and they had a bar with a dance hall, I played the old piano. We would go fishing around Wolf Island in my grandfather's 1957 Pen Yan with a 40 hp Johnson.

Has anyone seen this area now? Maybe when I get back to NY, I would like to see that area again. Maybe do the great loop someday, with my 38 Carver and stop there.

Don't know the area well enough to recognize your landmarks but we had a good visit at Cape Vincent when we did the loop. I took many pictures while there of the lighthouse and built a model of it a couple of years ago. The model became a door prize for one of our Power Squadron meetings. We also boarded the ferry for a ride into Canada while we were there. (had a delay while our tranny was replaced along the Rediou). One of the local motels was owned by a river/lake pilot. He boarded many of the ocean going freighters as the cruised through the St Lawrance river and the Lakes. He had some interesting stories!

I remember it being a very nice area. The place he had was about five or six miles north of Cape Vincent. Sunny Bank was the name. Several ore ships back then. We broke down one time and a ship came by. We couldn't move and he couldn't move over much, so we looked up and they looked down. We waved and they waved back, I was hopping they would radio for us, but no help came. Finally after several hours another boat came by and towed us in.

Can't say I know anything about Moonlight Bay, but Cape Vincent sure hasn't changed much in the last 40 years. Been going there since the 60's as a kid. We love it for that very fact that it is still the same quaint town it has always been.
