Just a reminder for those of us who have older GPS's like the Northstar 952XD I still have connected to my older autopilot.

I won't know how that one fares until my boat is back floating in a couple weeks but apparently once again some older GPSs may be affected by the latest week-count "rollover" which happens this evening Sat. 4/6/2019, 19:59-20:00 EDT

The good news is most modern GPS would be unaffected, and for those whose GPS say the year is back to 1999, you get to act 20 yrs younger!

What, in real-life terms, does this mean??? How will it affect them?

I really don't know , but expect if the GPS thinks it is 1999, it may not acquire positioning. On the other hand, it could possibly just not provide tide/current data, or have no effect at all.
And most GPS's out there would be new enough they would not be experiencing the 1024 week rollover.

My Northstar is from 1995 so I have some concern about that one and several spares in storage, but I have 3 recent Simrads installed as well which should be just fine I believe.

If any here has any GPS trouble they think may be related after tonight, I'd be interested in hearing about what they are experiencing.

It 'might- cause the software to "misread" ephemeris data, and give wildly inaccurate locations. Maybe.
