OMC 800 Sterdrive gear replacment

I am trying to replace the gears in the lower unit of my 1979 OMC 800 sterndrive. I have every thing apart, but can not get the Hydro/Machanic shifter out or the prop shaft and gear out. Does anyone know how to do this?

Do you have a manual? Are you following it? Are the neccessary snap rings out? Is the upper driveshaft [from upper case, driving the lower] still in place? If it's like outboard, the input [pinion] gear will prevent the forward gear/pump assy from coming out. Of course a snap ring will also keep it in place.

Yes, I have manual and no it does not tell me how to remove the shifter plunger and propshaft. I was told the they both come out at the same time. I don't want to break anything.
I have everything out except the shifter plunger and the propshaft with revers gear.
The photo are the two parts that need to come apart that are inside the housing.
