...there is a 1960 Chris-Craft Roamer 35 for sale pretty much dirt cheap. Steel hull, supposed to be pretty decent shape (it floats and runs ;) ), owned by a senior couple that use it to putz around the lake. There is a guy over in Canada that has extensive experience and good word-of-mouth for repairing/replating steel hulls.

So, assuming I had to put even $7-10K into her for major hull/paint work, I could still be looking a 35 footer for under $25K. No, she won't be fast by modern standards, and won't have the glitz of a new boat (no crappicino makers or electrically deploying berths) but I bet she'd knock down the lake chop pretty well.

Definitely a thought...
