Les registered George Van Parys as RO #1 and Les Hall as RO #3, I have no idea who was #2.
I registered as RO#147 just behind Bill D.
Happy 21st Birthday to BoaterEd.com
It has been quite a run and I hope to see it continue for many more years.

IIRC, #2 was a tt or something. MAybe he didn't like his 1st choice screen name. ;)

He did say, by my magic 8ball is undecided...

Thanks for the reminder Gary I came in at #36. Quite a bit of the hardware I put into Freedom for the Bahamas came from Boatfix.

I migrated from the other site, but didn't register right away. Didn't realize that "Registered Offender" was somewhat of a badge of honor. 😎

Like Bruce I was active on the old site. When Les started talking about the new site I did not understand the old one would go away. I was also on a couple of other sites and did not really want to add another. When it got through my thick head what was going on I quickly "moved".

Wow hard to believe this site has been around this long. I spent a lot of money at Boatfix and always had great pricing and service. So glad this site is still around today.

I waited a bit also until I thought I had something to contribute. RO 382. I've spent my lunch break with my BE friends several times a week for 2 decades.

The BIG Boatfix catalog always drew a big crowd when I brought it to work. I miss it. Miss my phone conversations with GVP and Les a lot more.

Indeed, they would both call you up to make sure you got what you ordered. GVP even went so far as to lose a powerhead sale because I couldn't explain why it failed. George explained that the new one would probably fail also.

GVP walked me through a repair on my 7.4 motor in my boat. Wouldn’t hang up until he heard it run!, he was one of a kind and is missed!

I found the site while searching for help with some problem I had with our Luhrs. After looking around I came across some info which helped me but I didn't register for several months as I wasn't much of an internet user(even though I did work for a large computer company....ha). As I mentioned in another thread, this was the first site I had 'registered' on and glad I did.
I too bought quite a bit of stuff from boatfix and had several phone conversations with George regarding problems on the Luhrs. In fact one of the parts still sits in my spare parts box as I made a mistake in diagnosing the problem and explaining it to George. I think of him every time I move the package. :)

I ordered some parts from Boatfix one Saturday morning. I got a call at 9:30 that night. It was George calling to tell me I ordered a part that wouldn't fit on my Mercruiser. I told him that I ordered that waterpump kit for a friend of mine. He said he just wanted to check, then wished me a good evening. GVP WAS customer service.

I forget my RO number, but it was either in the 4000's or 7000's. Got here pretty early in the game, and had great conversations with George about various parts and pieces for our Trojan F32. It was here that I met Peggie Hall, who coincidentally also owned an F32. We had a very sick Vacuflush system (not in a hip, good way - in a gross, stinky Pinesol way thanks to the PO) and couldn't have made it through the replacement of that system without her guidance. I learned more about heads, holding tanks, and Vacuflush systems than I ever wanted to know.

RO 4224. Just move your mouse over your name

March 18 will be my 20th Anniversary here! RO#3813. Coming up on 10,000 posts!

I remembering ordering from BoatFix, and Les adding in some free goodies. Who else remembers the HUGE kerfuffle over the "Women's Only" forum?
