Can you say Translation Error.
While delivering my new boat (yeah right) in Dubai on June 13 2007. I said "there was a spot on the bow". I guess they heard, "What?, drop in the bow, OK"! You can see what happened. Well, at least I can check my zincs now.

The pictures above appeared on yachtforum.com, a website devoted to megayacht captains and crews and the pix have been floating around the Internet since the accident occurred several months ago.

The 55' Marquis was being off loaded from a freighter in Dubai. The bow strap was obviously not properly secured and slipped, dropping the yacht bow first. If you look closely in the “swan dive" picture you will note two men clinging to the aft deck. We are told that these two men were technicians on the boat to start the engines after launch so the boat could be motored over to a slip. Some slip!

Reportedly, the bow hit the bottom in 40'of water and that is why it bobbed up stern first. But everyone – except the insurance company – ended up happy, as the customer decided the 55 Marquis was too small anyway, and immediately placed an order for a new 65' Marquis.

…Actually, a couple of days later, the boat was still upside down in the saltwater harbor, as everyone was trying to figure out Plan B. Cigars all around, boys.

How the heck did that thing slip? The strap looks pretty good in the first picture. Maybe the crane malfunctioned???

How'd ya have liked to be the guys in that cockpit, huh???
