I have an 05 Rinker. The original horn lasted a month. The replacement has been on and off since. Yesterday it appears it done for good.

Are these horns just junk?

Replacement ideas for a 12V trumpet horn?

Check the warranty, you may still be covered.

Pfft - Rinker is only a year and after that Randy don't care no more.

I'm talking about Ongaro, I think their warranty is 5 or 10 years.

Only on the high end models. You think Rinker put the better ones on their boats?

i replaced the crappy AFIs with Ongaros on my previous boat, they seemed to be the best in that size/price... sold it after a year so cant' say how long they'll last but they seemed better.

I replaced my AFI's with Ongaros about 5 yrs ago. No problems and I boat in salt water. If you just hear a clicking, check your power terminations-horns need lots of juice.

If you can get the diaphragm cover off , spray the tension adjustment screw with WD-40 and screw it in & out while someone pushes the horn switch. If that does not get it going, confirm there is power from the switch all the way to the horn ,including confirming neg ground.

What you want is air horns. Blow them once in a while to clear the corrosion and they will last forever and, you'll be heard - really heard - when you need to be. You don't have to buy those huge horns you see on mega-yachts. Do a search for marine air horns and you'll find horns that work fine on a small boat. You'll have to mount a small air compressor and run an air line to the horns but the compressor is about the size of a soft drink can.

I've bought so many electric horns over the years and then found them weak or not working at all when I needed them. Air horns really work.
