My boat will be out from end of this month through April 2008 for winter storage. Here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, winters are usually pretty mild. The storage custodian says no reason to shrink wrap for such a short period. Is there any rule of thumb for this? What are your experiences - good/bad, and what are the advantages and disadvantages? Thanks.

One thing to consider is the place that you will be storing the boat, are there alot of trees?
Leaves and twigs sure do reak havoc on the fiberglass.

Thanks for your reply. I know this is very late, but I have her at Deal Island and there are no trees around. I decided not to shrink wrap, following recommendations from the storage tech. Right now, I have to have this manifold thing resolved (see my post below), and, most importantly, I have to know what to do while the boat just sits there until end of April when I get her back in the water. Any ideas. Infact, I'll post that for all to respond.

Its going to be nice tomorrow and Monday, why not take that electronics manual and a few beverages of choice and pay a visit to the boatyard. You can get in some "dry boating" and brush up on your electronics at the same time. I've been getting my winter boating fix this way a few times this winter.

That's a great idea. I think I'll do that. I don't think it's supposed to rain tomorrow so that'll be great. Thanks for the tip.
